Stillness and Meditation Workshops

"Calmness is the ideal state in which we should receive all life's experiences" ~ Paramahansa Yogananda

"Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. When your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again."

 ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Meditation is the practice of turning your attention inward to the divine Consciousness that underlies your thoughts and feelings. It is a technique of resting the mind while attaining a state of consciousness that is opposite of the normal waking state. During the meditation practice, the mind is clear, calm, and inwardly focused. One is fully awake and alert, but the mind isn't caught up in the external world around you. Meditation requires a still-one pointed state in order for the mind to become quiet. We are asking the mind to let go of its inclination to think, analyze, recall or dissolve problems and to be in the present moment.

In fact, recent research has shown that meditating twice per day for about 20 minutes can actually reduce blockages in your blood vessels, significantly lowering the risk of sudden death by heart attack or stroke.

It has been well known and documented for many years that in deep states of meditation amazing physiological and chemical changes happen in the brain, changes that lead to incredible transformation and almost unbelievable mastery of life. With enough effort and practice, this peaceful state is attainable for all individuals.

Please join us to learn from within about the art of calmness, emptiness dancing, and awaking from the 'dream state'.

All About Birth

Holistic Birthing

Many of us don't realize the high price that babies pay when they experience womb or birth trauma. Most people are under the illusion that fetuses and babies aren't conscious of what is happening to them during these critical times, and believe that "they don't "remember" the traumatic experiences that they may have endured. There is growing evidence that unquestionably supports the idea that an embryo is conscious from the moment of conception as well as throughout the womb and birth experience. With that said, let me share what you may experience and learn as a pregnant woman in my practice.

Hypnosis is a natural state where one's subconscious mind becomes highly suggestible. In the hypnotic state, this mind becomes open to positive thoughts and ideas that can actually allow one to eliminate uncomfortable physical sensations in the body, both during childbirth or at times when pain is prevalent. Almost anyone, who has the desire, can practice hypnosis and be successful with it. During hypnosis you will reach an altered state of mind that is similar to being on the highway for several miles and suddenly realizing that you have passed many exits, without being conscious of even doing that. Hypnosis can be equated to a very deep relaxed state of mind and body. While delivering your baby under hypnotic analgesia, (unawareness of pain) you will probably experience something that parallels the state of daydreaming or a sense of being totally relaxed. Some of the benefits of a hypnotically prepared birth could be a shorter labor because the fear and tension that may cause a longer labor and more pain are reduced, little or no medication, a baby who is more alert after his/her birth process, and lower depression scores for you as a mom after your birthing experience.

Positive Affirmations will also be utilized that will support a happy, healthy delivery for both you and your newborn. Rather than using the word "pain," we will be focusing on words like pressure or contractions that are supporting your baby in moving down the birth canal. (Pain does not have to accompany the normal birth process) So, your mind will be focused on aiding your baby and bringing your beautiful miracle into the world in a healthy way. You will always be aware of the sensations in your body. However, as you harness your mind and your breath, you will be capable of controlling the depth of discomfort that you may be experiencing. This practice of creating a quiet mind and body will allow you to direct what is happening in your body, subsequently allowing it to produce its own natural anesthesia as it becomes harmonious with the effortless, innate birth experience.

The Breath plays a powerful part in the relaxation of the body. You will be practicing some breathing techniques that will calm and quiet your body, mind and soul. The birth process that you and your baby will experience will be in an atmosphere of serenity, peace and tranquility thus creating an easy, loving relationship for both of you.

Bonding between Mom and Baby and the negative effects of Birth Trauma will also be examined in depth. Remember that babies do have consciousness, do remember, do feel pain, and also have the capacity to learn. Studies have been done that support that babies respond after birth to stimuli that they were introduced to in utero e.g. mom's or dad's voice, a particular piece of music, news program sounds and more. So you can imagine how any birth trauma or shock may leave a deep painful imprint on the newborn. Some of the birth complications that we will be looking at will be the use of forceps, breach birth, long labors, caesarian sections, use of anesthetics, and cutting the umbilical cord before it stops pulsating, as well as separating the baby from mom immediately after birth.

In my practice I support clients in their "birth trauma healing process" through hypnotherapy and rebirthing. You have the opportunity of preventing your newborn from having to heal any traumatic birth wounds by generating a calm, spiritual, natural birth experience for that little soul today. I look forward to coaching and supporting you in that endeavor.
